Uganda’s parliamentary contestant for Moroto County, Benson Obua Ogwal has promised to procure incubator to boost chicken project he initiated in the constituency two years ago.
Launching his campaign at Abia primary school in Alebtong district on Wednesday, Obua also tasked the communities to start planning how they will utilize his next disbursement of constituency development fund amounting to sh 10m.
Government gives sh 10m to 333 Legislators yearly to develop the area they represent in the Uganda parliament.
Obua said Akura, Aloi, Apala and Abia sub counties including Alebtong town council will each get an equal share of Uganda shillings 2m.
He said rebuilding the lives of people after the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) war, fighting poverty and lobby to NGOs to help women group in Moroto is in his plan if elected in the coming polls.
He warned people against electing the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party flag bearers contesting in different positions, saying some have criminal record.
Obua who is the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) flag bearer is contesting against Dr Alex Okot of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Isaac Oledo (independent) and Alex Okullo of NRM.
“Let us scrutinized all these candidates and vote those with clean track records not criminals,” Obua said.
He also urged residents to embrace the Northern Uganda Social Action Fund (NUSAF II) and Peace, Recovery and Development Plan (PRDP) to reduce abject poverty.
