Media Hype?

OMG! Did I really just write that? Oh my God! I am appalled at the attraction people have to just nonsense and fruitless ‘news’. Things that don’t even constitute the traditional value of news.

In my understanding, at least when I was in high school taking current events, news was anything that affected the populace in part or as a whole. Big stories back then were Operation Desert Shield, then later Desert Storm. Not saying that war is the only thing that’s newsworthy, just an example.

That being said, when I hear “hey, it’s Obama’s birthday!” It doesn’t seem like it should affect anyone other than the people on his guest list. I mean, I didn’t get an invitation. He hasn’t done anything to earn himself a national holiday. Barrack Obama has not proven to be that great of a president. He didn’t bail me out of anything.

Or how about Lindsay Lohan is hooked on meth and her bipolar disorder contributed to her addiction. Who cares? Millions of people are addicted to meth, get busted, and since they aren’t celebrities, HAVE to go to jail and rehab. Shows that some people can buy their way or shake their arse out of the law that is supposed to treat us all as equals. That’s the only thing that I got out of it. Other than that, it affected NOONE outside of her and probably her drug dealer.

My last little rant, some people will probably mock me for. At least, the teen population. Justin Beiber is taking Estrogen pills. Who gives a rats ass what some kid wants to do for extra attention? I think he’s confused about his own sexuality. It affects absolutely noone except for him. I can’t even sing, let alone hum a single tune he’s done if that tells you how popular (s)he really is.

Things that do deserve more attention, that’s a whole other ball game… stay tuned.
