Modern Technology

You know, when it comes to Technology, it baffles me.  Over the years we have come to rely on it so much and think of all the awe’s of how wonderful it is.  But when you really come to think about it, have we ever really took the time to think what we would do without it?

Cell phone:

For example, the cell phone, we never use to have them, and now, people would think your crazy if don’t have one.  They have standard, text, camera, and now hear they are even about to have one with a mini 9 second video! Gosh, what next.

But you know, I do have to agree about the cell phone somewhat.  About 2 years ago, I was working in Castro Valley and commuting back to Dublin every day, and I had to travel over the Dublin grade as they call it.  One evening I was coming home, and it was dark and raining, and yes, I had an older car and no cell phone.  Just trying to get home while fighting the traffic and hoping to get home soon with all the rain splattering up all around my windows was bad enough.  I thought there seemed to be something a little different, but was not sure, but then a couple minutes later, I was sure.

Smoked started coming from everywhere up around the front of the car, almost could not see, and I barely made it across the 3 busy lanes to park on the right side of the road.  And guess what, I sat there for 3 hours, and not one person stopped to help or see if everything was alright.  After the smoking stopped, and I continued to sit there, even with the hood slightly up, still no one stopped.  So then I had thought about walking down a steep slope, and climb a tall metal fence, which if I had put my mind to it, I would of done.  But then I told myself, most likely I would get caught on the fence, or roll down the slope and into the road at the bottom.  So I had decided against that.
