Moon by Lift Shaft Japan’s Plan to Take 30 Persons, Return Trip in 14 Days
Japan has plans to provide a Lift Shaft from their Country to Space, the proposal is for 30 people to travel in that lift, with a journey time of seven days each way. I look at the proposal in more detail.
This is a serious proposal from the Japanese and it was a Leading article in the British Daily Mail in February 2012.
The Japanese Plan
What is the transportation?
A Lift Shaft
How many passengers will it take on each Journey?
30
How long will it take?
7 days each way
Overall plan
Is to transport 30 people in a connected lift between Japan and the Moon. The idea sounds too riduculous to be true, but is true this is not a made up story. However, one can imagine many many problems with this. People generally spend just a few minutes in a lift, if they encounter others, often total strangers will avert their gaze. Imagine the problems that could occur, what if it broke down, for those of us who would struggle to wait for the engineer for half an hour in a stuffy lift, it wcould be likely to be unbearable. (What about Air Conditioning?)
There are many people in the world that would not step into a normal lift and similarly people who will not fly and that would rule them out. You could ask the question who would it suit, probably people who belong to “A Dangerous Sports Programme” such as Hang Gliding or similar. Would it be affordable for most people leave aside millionaires. It sounds crazy but it has been seriously proposed so I want to explore a little further what you might need for this expedition if you like.
Accommodation
Bunk Bed Accommodation, or similar small spaced beds, due to limited space.
Refridgeration for food
Communication, Laptops would be a no show, would there be any communication
Who would monitor the event, could it be televised
Do the Japanese have someone to patent the project and employ an architect to produce a set of drawings.
Would the ordinary bod in the street be allowed to go in this mega lift, or would a person have to pass a super fitness test. To suggest that all this is centred around a lift I found extremely funny and I just could not stop laughing out loud at the idea and I have since shared this notion with family members.
I think that the Japanese would draw away from calling the transport a lift, because for this to have merit it would have to have many of the facilities, supplies that I have suggested and much much more. However, we should not dismiss this, it is a serious proposal by the Japanese, so maybe we should as individuals come up with ideas that would make this seem more plausable.
Japan is a strong well developed country with its own unique identity so whose to bet against them achieving this very ambitious plan, the question is will any of us see humans on the moon by liftshaft in our lifetime? Final thought too if this is so easy why are not the American’s planning this.
