Mountains and Mysteries
There are still many mysteries surrounding our age-old mountains. To say they go on as an endless list.
Mountains are not merely landforms of a kind. High-peaks that stand out the earth as distinct beauties are not simple elegance to behold. Many myths about these snow-white damsels are widely believed among locals, witnesses and others who had strange experiences. Though most of these follow the traditions of bedtime story-telling from our ancestors, since a lot of these mysteries remain unexplained they are still real myths.
In such a modern and scientific era, where could science fail to explain phenomena? Only in the sphere of mystery. Mountain gods, UFOs, spiritual experiences are all part of the drama. Astonishing because of the eerie silence, paradise-like beauty and the scarce yet wild forest covers bear the air of suspicion and fairy-tales. The days hold you spell-bound but the nights are really dreary.
The appearance popularity as of a paradise has given root to belief in the existence of gods here. People believe the peaks are the abode of the heavenly gods. The lonely dark caves filling the hollowness of the mountains are reputed for their holding spirits of those dead in mountain trekking or so. Stories of a leprosy-driven flute-player, a lost woman and many others haunt the hearer even in words. But these are nullified by brave hearts though some of them cannot be, even by the bravest.
Along the ranges of the Appalachians, Rocky Mountains and the Brown Mountains, mysteries are yet to be cracked. Alleged UFO sightings have been hovering over the mountains for ages. Though these cases are often sought to be dismissed by stating the possibilities of them being our own aircrafts or Cold War weapons rather than UFOs. Fireballs are more common allegations though they also seem true as their movements look controlled in some way or the other. And as for the Brown Mountains, lights in the air of different colours have been reported. So they are not just one phenomenon.
When science has to strike its opinion, it says gods and spirits are merely beliefs; a simple matter of human psychology and curiosity to be dealt with by the humans themselves. The sounds are just hallucinations. The lights occur due to reflections of rays of different wavelenghts in the atmosphere. The mist, fog and breezy atmosphere of the mountains tempt the human mind into wrong conclusions.
But this is hard for witnesses to agree upon. Seeing is believing and they have seen it. Many cases of UFOs also remain unsolved. Thus the mountains could be the most memorable yet scariest experience if you ever went adventuring there with the aim of a venture. If you are not afraid of any of these in the least, watch out for the thorns and beasts out there, though not mentioned above!
