My Kind of Hero
This essay was written for the Voice of Democracy Contest. It was supposed to answer the question “Does America Still Have Heroes?”.
Finally the most unrecognized hero is the everyday person who lives an average life, but stands up for what they believe in. This is the person that everyone should try to be. They are the person that breaks up the fight when everyone else is watching. This takes bravery and is not always the smart thing to do in situations such as fights, but a hero will do it anyways just because they know that it is the right thing to do. They are the person that calls the cops when something goes wrong and no one else cares. While everyone else is in shock you know how to respond so you are a leader that takes control of situation and tries to help everyone around you. They are the ones that you turn to for advice about anything in the world. You trust this person and they had to earn that trust. You know that they will not tell anyone your deepest darkest secrets so they are your hero. This is your best friend that carries you the whole way to the emergency room after you fall and break your leg. Your best friend is courageous and is always by your side, and that is why they are a hero. This is the most important hero because it is the hero that everyone has inside of them, but only some people know how to use it. It takes courage and leadership, but in the end everyone is a hero.
