Never Jump to Conclusions

It is amazing what can happen when we assume!

Assuming, Error of My Way

If you have been reading my stories since I started writing on Triond, you all know about a particular dog that I had dog sat, for a month, which was sent here from Afghanistan.  She had been sent over by one of our soldiers to save her life from the brutality that she would endured over there when he would get sent to another part of the country. The soldier figured it was the least he could do since she had kept him company for about three or four months during the hell he had to endure.

The last I had heard when I called the facility she was staying at was that she was gone; I thought I was going to just die. I asked when and the person said about 2-3 days ago! I was so upset with the “owner” the woman footing the bill for the kennel, as well as the payment to me when I had cared for her over the five weeks.

Well assuming, the error of my way comes into play because I thought after I saw her that last time when I went to visit her, at the kennel.  She had lost so much weight I believed she would truly die, she was so thin, and so obviously mad at me for “deserting” her; so when the woman I spoke to on the telephone said “gone” I assumed dead.

The dog is a mixed German shepherd, and word is she may be in need of a more   permanent home. It was just the other day that I thought about Scooter, as I was reflecting over the year, the good the bad, the happy and sad. I thought to myself if only I kept her longer, or I found her a good home. This has to be my best Christmas gift ever. I don’t care if never receive a gift ever again, because Scooter is Alive!

I love a story with a happy ending. Let’s hope the soldier makes it back in one piece and relatively sane.

Girl, I know how you feel. The fact that my dog Kole is alive and his tumor was not cancer is the greatest Christmas gift ever. This was a wonderful story.

Knowing that Scooter was alive was the best Christmas gift, and during the second week of this month I will acutally get to see her. I need to know she is ok. If any of you actually followed Scooters story , then you now know the joy I feel.
