Newspaper Reporter – Responsibilty Towards Society
Newspaper is the easiest way to reach people but it can harm the society if we take it as a profession and not as a responsibility.
Edmand Burke, the great Englishman has called the press the Fourth Estate. This shows the importance of newspapers in or daily life. The rapid spread of education all over the world has attracted a large reading public who eagerly wait for their morning paper
There is no other medium more useful than the newspaper to keep our general knowledge up to date. A good newspaper is always an encyclopedia of knowledge. A newspaper reporter or journalist collects and disseminates information about current events, people, trends, and issues. His or her work is acknowledged as journalism. Reporters are one type of journalist. They create reports as a profession for broadcast or publication in mass media such as newspapers, television, radio, magazines, documentary film, and the Internet. They are often expected to report in the most and unbiased way to serve the public good. A columnist is a journalist who writes pieces that appear regularly in newspapers or magazines.
A variety of external and internal pressures influence journalists’ decisions on which stories are covered, how issues are interpreted and the emphasis given to them. These pressures can sometimes lead to bias or unethical reporting. Achieving relevance, giving audiences the news they want and find interesting, is an increasingly important goal for media outlets seeking to maintain market share in a rapidly evolving market. This has made news organizations more open to audience input and feedback, and forced them to adopt and apply news values that attract and keep audiences.
There is a great responsibility of a newspaper reporter towards society. A single exaggerated report or wrong feeding of events happened may create disturbance among people. It should not happen that in a delicate situation instead of pacifying people, fuel is added and more problems created. So a newspaper reporter should always be a mirror of public thinking and mentality.
