Obese Canadian Children?

Why is the obesity rate in Canada climbing?

Why are children becoming overweight? Obese kids are everywhere now, and in large numbers. This problem is getting so bad that the government is starting little exercise times in class, where kids stand beside their desks and do simple aerobics. Do you think there is a coincidence between the bulk of the nations kids (no pun intended) and the fact that we just cut all the Physical Education programs out of all our nations public schools? Personally it seems way too visible that this is the problem directly connected to our nations growing obesity.

It has gone too far, why on earth was Phys Ed. and the Arts the first thing that our children lost. It is ridiculous to hear about how the government is spending millions on finding out why our kids are becoming obese when it was their decision to make them more obese in the first place when they cut PE out of our schools. Now they’re trying to sell us this classroom aerobics stuff like it’s the cure to some random explosion in fat youth. It is not random at all, people eat food that is bad for them all the time, and since most people don’t exercise on a regular basis, obesity is taking its toll on our country.

All you have to do to stay in shape is two things, eat a bit better than you usually would, and exercise on a regular basis. Thousands of young kids are not obese and they’re surrounded by exactly the same things and live in exactly the same environment as all the others, and they don’t gain weight. This isn’t magic, they just eat better and exercise more, or ever for that matter.

The only way we’ll be able to fix this growing epidemic is by getting mandatory Physical Education put back into public schools. The PE programs in schools used to be so good and well kept just ten years ago, and they’ve taken a violent turn for the worse since. There are merely a fraction of the high school sports available to students now as there once was, and virtually no after school groups or activities based on health and being active.

This is a definite problem in British Columbia and the rest of Canada, we need to fix it soon, or it will never be fixed, and if it never gets fixed, it will lead to a shorter life expectancy, more heart disease, higher risk of heart attacks, and a very high level of diabetes in Canada. Is that what you want to happen? Is that what you want for your kids and your grand kids?
