Orwellian World

It gives a general United States citizen’s view of the current state of of our country.

Greetings,

I would like to begin by saying that I am just a regular guy, but one who senses that something is not right with our country.  In fact not right with the world.  I am no scholar.  Have had few notable accomplishments in the 35 years that I have been alive.  I go to work and I pay my taxes just like every other good American,( as if any of us receiving true payroll checks can avoid paying them. )  I do feel as though I am in quicksand and have less and less control over my own life.  I am also aware that at this juncture many other Americans find themselves in an even more precarious situation than myself.  I have no wife and no children to have to worry about which is some comfort to me personally.

Prior to the 2008 elections, I had practically no interest in politics and in fact understood almost none of it.  Of course knowing that the basic premise of being a politician is to tell the people what they want to hear in order to be elected to a seat of power, then being able to put into practice what the people desire.  Of course it almost never happens this way because the average american is’nt asking themselves.  Where is the bulk of candidate so and so’s campaign financing coming from?  We vote for them and they get elected owing some shadowy people some big favors.

I entitled this little essay, if we can call it that “Orwellian World” because the best lies are the ones that masquerade as the truth.  I believe Orwell in his book 1984 referred to it as “doublespeak“.  I cannot help but notice how doublespeak is currently employed in our political process and via the media.  One good example, I think would be former President Bush’s “No Child Left Behind” education program.  By all accounts by the end of Bush’s presidency our education system was in more disarray than the one he found when he entered office.  I say that this is no accident.  I say that No “Child Left Behind”  was designed to leave every child behind!  At least the ones unfortunate enough to have to be a part of the public school system.  I look at the Cap and Trade bill that was just passed which as I understand it amounts to nothing more than a co2 emissions tax on everyone.  Of course it was presented to us by President Obama and others as a measure to bring down energy costs for everyone including average Americans.

It is a natural inclination to believe what we are told particularly by our elected officials, but we should remember that most of them are highly skilled at swaying perceptions and basically making the masses believe that they are on our side.  We tend to think that because someone wearing a suit, standing at a podium, looking at a camera, reading from a teleprompter, sounding like they know what they are talking about means they have our best interests at heart.  The country’s best interest at heart, but increasingly this is not the case.  I only ask my fellow americans to for now listen with inquisitive ears and you will hear and intrerpret the lies as such upon hearing them.  In order to complete their grand masterpiece of control, they need us to be asleep while wide awake so as their best laid plans can be hidden in plain sight.
