Party on The Highway, with Three Million Participants

A portion of the highway, about 65 km long, of Germany, was shut down traffic to organize the biggest party here “street” that Europe has heard. The event took place at the festival Ruhr.2010, which celebrates the declaration of the Ruhr region in western Germany, as European Capital of Culture 2010.

It is the first time this title is not granted a city but an entire region, in this case, a group of 53 localities.

Ruhr closing event celebrated a great piece of highway between Dortmund and Bochum, stretching her long lunch to 60 km and organizing all kinds of entertaining occasions – birthday parties, comedy shows and even a wedding.

Although it was not made an official count, organizers estimate that, taking advantage of good weather, about three million people visited the place and took part in the fun.
