Patterns

In the 60s Bob Dylan wrote;  “You have to pay to get out of going through these things twice.”

Once you can catch the ‘patterns’ in life, you seem absolutely brilliant. 
Although, on reflection one can logically see how limited interactions are, we tend to
start with ‘blank slates’.  As we fill them, eventually we may recognise that we went
through something like this before.  The problem is, many times we don’t.

The kid who enterd fourth grade should know what is going to happen. Should expect the
whole new seat/teacher/attendance thingy because he’s been through it before. 
But often, he walks in as if it’s all so new.

A pattern, repeated every years from the first day he starts school, he should not be
surprised by them. Yet, he still has that kind of ’surprise’ as to where he sits, who
sits next to him, the alphabetical order thing, the size place thing….didn’t he go through
that before?  So why is it new?

This is just one pattern, easy enough to see.
There are others not as obvious, at least to our conscious mind.

For example, if you’re in your thirties and you call your fifteen year old niece by her mother’s
name, you’ll probably giggle and consider it is just a misspeak.  If you are in your sixties you
assume your mind is going.

However, if you are alert to pattens you will appreciate that the ‘misspeak’ was actually your
subconscious seeing you niece behaving just like her mother.

Perhaps she is expressing a similar attitude, or creating the same kind of feelings in you today
that her mother did how many years ago.

The niece might be one of those ‘it is every one’s fault but mine‘; which is a dead stamp of her
mother, who still can’t take responsibility for disasters she caused.

Sometimes you are ine a meeting and a sense of deja vu or experiencing bone deep boredom
because you know, even though you might be afraid to word it, just where this discussion is going.

If you recognise the patterns, you can instantly begin to tap into the ‘Zen’ of it, and people will
think you are psychic or brilliant, and you don’t have to tell them that the reason you know is
because you’ve already paid so you don’t have to go through these things twice.
