Persuasive Formal Oral on Advertising
What would the world be like without advertising? Popular advertisers such as Coca Cola influence the public with their creative advertisements to buy their product, Coca Cola earning up to $11 billion per year!

David Beckham’s gaze is to the audience, he has a straight face, symbolising he holds power and can get attractive women such as the one in the advertisement. He appears to be in a lovely hotel and has a classy watch signifying his great wealth. The reading path would be to the woman’s face and then down her body then to David, you then look at the surroundings of them, the hotel, where the cologne is positioned with the name of the product, this juxtapositions the product where the audience will look. The target market of this product would be males mid 20s and women who are partners of these males as they want this image of David Beckham, hot attractive and sexy.
To conclude I will leave you with one thought, what would the world be like without this deception this misrepresentation of gender; would products sell as much as they do now? Would the world be better if advertisers did not use sex appeal to sell their product? Advertisement certainly relies on the use of deception and misrepresentation of gender to sell their product. Without sex appeal many advertisers would not be able to sell their product, as sex appeal attracts most audience to buy the product, it catches the audience and does not let them get away, it sells the image to the audience.
