Pm’s Sudden Retreat Peru

Prime Minister of Peru Salomon Lerner suddenly resigned on Saturday, said the radio station RPP. The withdrawal means a change of Minister Salomon was the first since Presidential candidate Ollanta Humala took over the Government by the end of July.

A source at the presidential palace did not confirm or deny the resignation of Lerner, who apparently is one of the important advisory Humala. By law, if the Prime Minister step down then the Ministers must also submit their resignations, to give the President a chance to make a change or confirm them in their posts respectively.

Peru’s Government was rocked by protests against a gold mine project worth of 4.8 billion u.s. dollars. Humala gave military and police special powers to stop demonstrations that have closed roads, schools and hospitals-hospitals in the region Cajamarca. At the end of last week, the personal conduct of negotiations with Lerner leaders protested for hours but he failed to reach an agreement, which prompted emergency measures by the President.

Humala, a former army officer, won the seat of the Presidency in June with promises to drive more social spending to rural towns to help soothe social conflict over natural resources and ensure their safe investment company will be in Peru.
