Price of Fame

Fame is a fickle thing. The desire for it leads one to step on other people, even family, just to acquire it.

So, all eyes were on the daughter, her every move was avidly captured by cameramen and news crews. She was the subject in all the news reports, her rise to fame followed by the masses. Then out of nowhere her dad shows up, announcing to the nation that he will be making a comeback. Whoa, something’s not quite right. Why now? Didn’t he say that he got movie offers while he was still in America and he turned them down? What was that?

Suddenly, he’s the one that people are now talking about. He’s the one in every news reports, making appearances in all the right shows, giving out interviews, etc. Hah, stealing the limelight from his daughter! How low is that? Even though he just got back, he’s now involved in a controversy. You know what guys? He’s really smart. The only way to get attention is to create a sensational move. He’s playing with both giant networks in the entertainment industry and it looks like he’s going to get away with it.

Contrary to what he wants the public to believe, he is not a good father nor will he ever be no matter how hard he tries. If he was, he would’ve just supported his daughter and gave way for it is, after all, her time to shine. He would have made more of an effort to be there as she was growing up, not to mention do that with his other daughters with different women as well. Promiscuous, wasn’t he? Fact is he was an absentee dad. His daughters are just kindhearted enough to actually forgive his shortcomings.

He’s had his stint at stardom; he chose to give that up long ago (or so he says). Now, he’s making a comeback and stole all the public’s attention. I guess that’s what he wanted all along, coming back with a bang. He’s just looking for the right time. Oh, he found it all right. But it’s at the expense of his daughter.
