Prometheus
Mythology.
Prometheus was one of the many Titans. His name means “forethought”. He was able to tell the future. He is the son of Lapetus and Clymene. This mythological character is not really the god of anything other than future telling and fire. He is the God of fire because he stole fire from the Gods that didn’t want humans to have fire. So he stole the fire, gave it to the people, and was in big trouble for his actions. Since he gave the fire to mankind, he was punished by being chained to a rock, and everyday he would have his liver pecked out by an eagle. Everyday his liver grew back because of his immortality, but once again it was pecked out the next day over and over again until…
After thirty years Hercules killed the eagle and ended Prometheus’s torture, pain, and suffering. But he was still chained to the rock because of Pandora. Prometheus was the only person that knew that a nymph, name Thetis, would one day have a son that would become better than Zeus and overthrow him. So, he told Zeus, and in return was unchained from the rock. People that study mythology say that he is the teacher of astronomy, medicine, navigation, metalworking, architecture, and writing. Some people also say that Prometheus is the one that created humans, although many think that, that is not true. These are the main facts about Prometheus!
