Proud to be British

But there are also other inventions we did make, such as the television, made by John Logie Baird.

Oh, and the very fact that you’re reading thins from the internet is mainly thanks to a British engineer who created the world wide web, Tim Berners-Lee. We also created the language you are reading this in.

We have done quite a lot, us Brits. Despite the fact that we are an island, cut off from the rest of Europe, we have invented more creations in the past five hundred years than almost any other country in the past five millennium. Makes you proud to be British, don’t it?

We have also made our fair share of sports used worldwide. For example, football, or soccer as it’s called across the pond.

Some might surprise you. But is it really so hard to imagine that American football emerged from rugby?

And it looks like we made one of their favourite sports too: Basketball

Wow. Looks like we sure helped them didn’t we?

Oh, I’m not saying that the American’s are stupid; quite the contrary. I think that many of them are very clever.

They created the internet (not the World Wide Web, difference being that internet was not accessible by nowhere near as many people) which we built on. They also invented the zip (or zipper as they call it)

But I don’t think the Atom bomb was quite so necessary… (If it’s spelt wrong, not my fault. Spell checker on this thing don’t work).

But to be fair, many American citizens are highly stereotypical, for example the yellow or crooked teeth we are supposed to have, or the posh way in which we act. This I don’t like. But mind you, there is the McDonald’s stereotype…
