Racism

Racism in Society.

Racism is one of the worst things to happen in a modern society. It is an extremely nasty thing that some have to endure once in a while. People who engage in racism (eg. judgement on skin colour, caste, appearance etc.) do not realise the impact of their words or actions. Everyone is unique and nobody would like to be judged based on these.

Racism hurts. Yet racists are found in all societies throughout the world. Racism can also be dangerous. A person who is ill treated with acts of racism everyday would be extremely frustrated and may develop mental and psychological problems. It may also result in lack of confidence and self esteem. Some may be so badly affected that they may harm themselves or others, sometimes, proving to be a nuisance to the society.

Racism can take effect in several ways. It can mean simply teasing or passing impolite comments at the other person, out casting them from certain areas, imposing certain restrictions and not allowing certain privileges that are offered to everyone else. It may also be as dangerous as committing violence against them.

Acts of racism should be treated seriously and strictly punished by law. They should be seriously punished because if it is encouraged then it would lead to a weak society with many differences. This may lead to a deteriorating situation like a civil war. For example, in the U.S.A, when Martin Luther King protested against it.

In conclusion, racism is barbaric and poses a grave threat to our society in every possible way. It is also against the laws of nature. We humans can do without it and this world would be a safer and a better place for us all.
