Reality Versus Dreams
Imagine yourself being the hero or heroine helping people to a better live. And then imagine yourself in the reality world.
Donald Trump’s face flashes on TV every few hours whenever you switch on the TV to see if there are any nice shows. And then you grunted disapprovingly. Some people are just so unfair to be born a millionaire!! You saved up for many years and the millionaire is far from your grasp. Imagine this you have been thriving so hard all the years and millionaire is still not a number in your bank account??? Hey where is all the fairness in this world??
Sighing you press the off button on the remote control. Then you picked up the newspaper sitting comfortably on the coffee table untouched since this morning. You ran your eyes over all the interesting topics and then you stopped short at one particular topic. “10 dogs homeless and no shelters provided”. Being an animal lover, particularly cute dogs and cats, your eyes brimmed with tears and your lips trembling. Thanking God you were alone at home you bawled. How cruel this world can be?? Come on there’s so many spaces in this world can’t anybody spare one pathetic space for homeless dogs?? People are so cruel nowadays thinking nothing but themselves! You wanted justice and you wanted to build many shelters for homeless dogs. Once you are millionaire you can start that plan…for now just bawled for the sake of the homeless dogs.
You opened your eyes to hear bustling from the front door. You knew who it was…your parents are back. You jumped up from your bed almost spraining your ankle you practically flew down the stairs. You stopped short when you see an old woman wobbling on a walking stick trying to stand straight. You beamed. It was your grandma. She beamed at you too. You couldn’t help but hugged her tightly almost choking her. You missed her. She may look old and haggard but most importantly she still looks fit to play Monopoly with you. You vowed you will protect every elderly in this world to be loved and cherish by providing home shelter and care service if ever their children abandoned them. Maybe you will have to pass this job to your great-great grand children after all….
You laughed out loud at a friend’s joke. You sat down at Starbucks Coffee and ordered a Café Latte with cream on top. Your friend ordered a Chocolate Belgian. Then your drink came and you sipped it deliciously as it cooled your thirsty throat. With cream smearing your lips a small kid with ragged clothes came begging for food. You had nothing to give except for a few pennies left after buying your café latte. You gave it anyway. Your friend shooed the kid away. You frown. Then you vowed to build many houses to shelter homeless kids. Yeah right just leave the job to the government and stop dreaming. It’s their job anyway. You are just being too kind anyway.
You reached home carrying tons of bags. You went to greet your parents in the living room but upon reaching you sensed this gloomy atmosphere hanging in the air. Smile frozen on your lips you asked what was wrong. With a sad look your mum told you. You stood stunned. Your family is broke. It turned out that your dad has been dealing in shares and has dabbled too much into it. Your house has been mortgaged and now you’re homeless. Should you be feeling anything? How would you feel if your mum suddenly tells you your family is broke and you no longer have a house to stay? Hmmm maybe not very good because you started bawling.
You stood outside of your house. In the garden stood a tall sign quoting “House Mortgaged”. Carrying a small bag containing what was left of your properties, you turned your back against your house. And there you started a new reality with another new set of dreams.
