Rugby World Cup

This is report on the recently concluded rugby world cup.

The Rugby World Cup concluded on 23rd October 2011 in Auckland.  20 teams participated in the tournament. Group A consisted of New Zealand, France,   Tonga, Canada and Japan. Group B consisted of Argentina, Scotland, England, Georgia and Romania. Group C consisted of Australia, Ireland, Italy, Russia and USA.  Group D consisted of Fiji, Wales, Namibia, Samoa and defending champions South Africa.

New Zealand started their World cup campaign by defeating Tonga 41-10. France defeated Japan 47-21.

England   defeated Argentina 13-9. Fiji defeated Samoa 49-25. Defending champions South Africa defeated Wales 17-16. Ireland defeated USA 22-10. Australia defeated Italy 32-6. After losing to New Zealand Tonga tried to make a comeback but their effort went in vain as they lost to Canada 20-25.

Scotland defeated Georgia 15-6. Samoa defeated Namibia 49-12. Russia lost to USA 6-13. New Zealand trashed Japan 83-7. South Africa secured their second win by defeating Fiji 49-3. Ireland created an upset by defeating Australia 15-6. Argentina defeated Romania 43-8. 2003 champions England defeated Georgia 41-10. France defeated Canada 43-19. Italy defeated Russia 53-17. Tonga defeated Japan 31-18.

South Africa trashed Namibia 87-0. 1999 champions Australia defeated USA 67-5. England defeated Romania 67-5. New Zealand continued their brilliant form by defeating France 37-17. Ireland defeated Russia 67-17. Samoa defeated Fiji 27-7. Wales defeated Namibia 81-7. Georgia defeated Romania 25-9.

Canada drew Japan 23-23.  Italy defeated USA 27-10. Argentina defeated Scotland 13-12. Italy defeated USA27-10. Argentina defeated Georgia 25-7. South Africa defeated Samoa 13-5. England defeated Scotland 16-12. Australia defeated Russia 68-22. Wales trashed Fiji 66-0.Ireland defeated Italy  36-6.

New Zealand defeated Canada 19-15.

The stage was set for Quarterfinals.

Ireland faced Wales. Wales defeated Ireland 22-10. France defeated England 19-12. Defending champions South Africa lost to Australia 9-11. New Zealand defeated Argentina 33-10.

France defeated Wales9-8. Home team NewZealand defeated Australia 20-6.

Australia claimed the third place by defeating Wales 21-18.

New Zealand defeated France 8-7 to become the new Rugby champions of 2011.
