Runaways: Children of The Streets
One of the worst tragedies this country faces is that of runaway youth. According to my sources the statistics are one in 7, or one million per year according to one report.
One of the worst tragedies this country faces is that of runaway youth. According to my sources the statistics are 1 in 7, or 1 million per year according to this report. I have heard of many youth hotlines and such that are combatting this problem but I still believe more can be done.
If you are the family member of a runaway and still searching for them I encourage you all not to ever give up no matter how grim the outlook may be.
I have watched many films and the like about this epidemic although thankfully I have never known anyone who was a runaway. I write this out of concern for the runaways out there who are afraid to go home. If they are afraid to go home,my recommendation would be call one of the available hotlines and seek help from them.
There are people who care, no matter what the situation that caused these runaways to become that way they deserve better. They deserve safe shelter, good food, and a warm bed, the things many people take for granted every day.
I feel sorry for runaways, that there is anything that would drive them to such drastic measures as to leave what should be a safe haven. The Home.
As a final note, my thoughts and prayers are with their families.
