Sacrifice
Profile of Public Service Personnel.
Sean Tallon along with hundreds of other rescue personnel made the ultimate sacrifice that morning. The task was clear, to help as many people as possible regardless of the consequences. This is a phenomenon, and you can ask any person in these professions if they would have done the same, and the answer will always be a resounding affirmative.
This is not just about Sean Tallon, this is about all the people who do these things day in and day out. Those in public service and the armed forces of the United States, daily answer the call, no matter what it that call is. Sean Tallon also served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve in the second battalion, 25th Marines. This is significant not only because of the photo, but it should serve as a vivid reminder of what the price of freedom is, and who will be picking up the check.
All should look around at what they have and be thankful for it, as many have lost much. It is almost unfathomable as far as the extent of the loss. Not anyone from a town of about five thousand can easily imagine the whole town being destroyed. It actually makes some people numb. There are others out there who went from numb to angry quickly. How could anyone do this? Why would anyone possibly do this? Hopefully, the answers will come soon. The cost of those answers may still be American blood by way of our armed services. It has been a price paid in full by prior generations. As is often the case, the war machine lumbers on toward infinity, consuming lives and leaving devastation in its wake.
The events of 11 September have forever changed the face of our country. She is now physically scarred as well as psychologically damaged. It would seem the way things were is not what they will be. People are more vigilant as well as deeply reflective of the current events. As far as perspective, it seems we were worried about some innocuous things compared to what our days consist of at this time.
