The 21st Century Society

Many things changed in the last years. How is our society nowadays?

At 50 years ago, no one thought that the man could create the things that he could create. Nowadays, we have huge cities, the Internet, we go to space, and many other great things. Those inventions allowed the man to have a life each more comfortable. To talk to someone we don’t need anymore to wait weeks to our letter reach to the other side of the planet, or now we can search for water on other planets.

All the things change, even the mentality of people. Nowadays we see one of the big diseases on our century, the fever of consumerism. People addicted on shopping spend the money that they have, and that don’t have on useless things, just for the pleasure of buying. Many people ruin their lives with huge debts that they can’t pay, because of shopping addiction.

Even the concept of family changed in the last years. In 21st century, the families are much more disunited that before. Now, instead of the parents play with their children, they throw them a computer, or a video games console to their hands, to put them busy, to the parents can work, without their kids disturb them.

The rhythm of our society is rising year after year. The problem is that with this huge rhythm that people are living their lives, they forget the most important people for them, like friends, or family. And without that people, we can’t live.

The brevity of this peice was nice. I would liked to see some more details. I agree with your closing argument that that family is important. Some notions as to how the family will look in fifty years is important.

You talk also of the last fifty years – that was the twentieth century. Some ideas about the NEXT fifty would be better suited to the title of the article The 21st Century Society.

    Very Good – j
