The American Dream
The American dream was first used by James Truslow Adams in his book “The Epic of America” which was published in 1931, wrote, “The American Dream is ‘that dream of a land in which life should be better, richer and fuller for everyone”.
From her immigrants that want to come to America said that they were looking for the American dream.
Nearly all the immigrants that came to America saw the icon for the American Dream, The Statue of Liberty which symbolized freedom and personal liberty. The American Dream is the freedom that allows all citizens and most residents of the United States to chase their goals in life through hard work and free choice.
The Phase ‘The American Dream’ has changed a lot since it was first used which then to most people meant, “To achieve greater prosperity than that was possible in their countries of origin. For other it meant for their children to receive an education as pursuit their future goals and for some it was the opportunity to make individuals choices which out restriction of race, class, religion, ethnicity.
Today the ‘American Dream’ still is a dream for people in countries of communism, poverty or racial discrimination. Seeking refuge in a very big and powerful country that could fulfil their career or childhood dreams whether it is money fortune or a better place to live and learn.
The American Dream lured millions of people from many different nations to the shores of the United States, which grew the American economy and power to help them be in their American dream.
Some of the people that achieved there American dream are Arnold Schwarzenegger, which was a Austrian body-builder and was voted best built man of Europe which made him famous. He was then entered to the Mr. Universe competition in London where he would make it big, become a star, and get rich if he won. Arnold Schwarzenegger came second place. This motivated him to come first the following year, which won him a ticket to America. Arnold Schwarzenegger said his child hood dream was to go to America, which was what he had done, becoming the most popular actor in the 1990’s.
The American dream, to move to a country that has wealth, power and opportunities was a success to most of the people that believed it. Whether it was to live there and escape their communism country or to become rich and famous. This was and still is the American dream.
