The Azkals Won Infront of a Million Pinoys
by The Philippine football team started the year with a big win against Team Mongolia.
The Philippine Azkals, the national football team, won against Mongolia in front of millions of Filipino supporters in and out the Panaag Stadium in Bacolod City, Philippines. It was an impressive win indeed. It was the first game played in the Philippines were the home crowd had the chance to cheer for their beloved team.
On the early minutes of the game, team Mongolia kicked away several strong shots but because of the great defense by the Azkals and with the good goaly guarding the net, none of the shots came close to the goal. It was 18min before halftime that Azkal’s little midfielder, Panudong, made a big goal and give the Philippine team a 1-0 lead going to the half.
The second half was a war. Team Mongolia repeatedly attacked the goal desperately wanted to tie the score. Too bad for the visiting team, they just could penetrate through the tight defense of the Philippine Azkals. The crowd jumped even more when the money man, Phil Younghusband, shook 3 Mongolians and slipped past 2 others to score a beautiful goal in the last minutes of the game giving them a 2-0 lead. The goal of Younghusband sealed the game in favor of the Philippine Azkals.
The achievements of the Azkals adds another honor brought by the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Flash Donayre, Jerry Penalosa, Eric Reyes and many other Filipinos to the Philippines. It further proves that filipinos are hardworking and goal-oriented individuals. As the song by BAMBOO plays; ” Hoy! Pinoy ako, buo aking luob, May agimat ang dugo ko.”
