The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Living
Speaking the Truth.
Sometimes I wonder why life is so predictable; so prewritten, so discovered, and if history repeats itself, then why don’t we already have all the answers? It seems like there’s a Book for Dummies, Complete Idiot’s Guide, or manual for everything but life–and that’s what everyone is when it comes to that subject, right? Dummies and idiots.
It’s left up to our parents, guardians, and teachers to teach us what we need to know about life, but what the hell do they know? I don’t want my own dreams to be limited by their own lack of knowledge, but that’s exactly what happens. Our lives are prewritten in the sense that our parents could either be middle-aged millionaires or inexperienced teenagers, etc. Not to mention the fact that their values and beliefs, or lack thereof, are forced upon us and imprint an opinionated image of the world ever since the time of our birth.
So where does that leave us? It leaves us scratching our heads, making mistakes, getting punished for those mistakes, wandering aimlessly around in life, and after all of that, we end up going to college just to be submerged with debt from student loans and spending the rest of our lives miserably paying it off; and that’s the absolute best we can hope to get from life.
The truth is, we can’t afford to be alive, and we can’t afford to be dead–that should be the first sentence in the Complete Idiot’s Guide to Living.
