The Cost of Karma
An article about how the smallest of slights can cause tragic unseen events to happen and how being mindful of our words can heal the world instead of destroying it.

How much do you think your personal karma would cost numerically? How much do think the world’s karmic debt would cost? I bring these questions up after the recent aftermath of the tragic incident at Fort Hood, Texas. It would be simple, easy and presumed normal to blame this tragedy on Major Nidal Malik Hasan or his conversion to Islam. But I would like for you to stop and think about him individually and more importantly what events or experiences led this fairly successful likable man to explode in a murderous rage. Already as I am writing this, the blame game has begun with Islam or being Muslim as the culprit.
Personally, I do not blame this on religion although religion has proven to lead many to overzealous extremes where death has been the final solution. Was Major Hasan teased about his conversion to Islam as reported and if so what do you think about bullying, teasing also known as normal joking? I have a major issue with bullying and this nation has done nothing to outlaw it. Yes, I realize you cannot control what comes out of a person’s mouth 24-7 but what is the cost of karma from negatively speaking what you think , what you want just because you can?
I would say numerically it is impossible to calculate! Look at the perpetrators of Columbine? It was also said that Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold were bullied by the jocks of the school. By all means, I am not saying that bullying is a good reason to kill and destroy innocent lives but what I am saying is when are we going to start taking what we say into account? Since we do not know the mental threshold limit of one person to the next that we pass by everyday; I believe it is best to treat each other as we would like to be treated. We live in a world where people easily feel disrespected so much so I carefully choose who I look at. I know I am old school but I do know being considerate to everyone is an asset that has lost its appeal today.
