Among the three classes of the Indian society, the upper class is the most affluent, influential and powerful. Though numerically inferior to the middle and lower class people, it is the most powerful class than them; in fact it decides the destiny of other people.
Among the three classes of the Indian society, the upper class is the most affluent, influential and powerful. Though numerically inferior to the middle and lower class people, it is the most powerful class than them; in fact it decides the destiny of other people.
People with large land holdings known as traditional land lords, large entrepreneurs or people of large business houses, top level business people, top level executives, bureaucrats, diplomats, judges, top level professionals like lawyers, engineers and doctors belong to this upper class. Politicians who rise in politics by dint of their skills of maneuvering, oratory and money power belong to the upper class. Cine stars who become stars overnight by virtue of their talent coupled with luck and opportunities also lead a life of luxury and belong to the upper class. Their wards, either by continuing the career of their parents or by virtue of their money power lead a high life style and so they also belong to the upper class.
The upper class people belong to the high income group and they pay income tax. They lead an ostentatious life style; Being wealthy, they eat healthy, live in palatial houses, dress magnificently befitting to their wealth, travel by cars, have their medical care in highly paid specialty hospitals, stay, recreate and meet in five star luxury hotels and clubs, travel by plane to far off places to have a comfort in travel and save time. They also frequently travel to foreign countries either for the purpose of business, officially or personally. In short they enjoy a high standard of lifestyle, which is unimaginable to the people of middle or lower class. By virtue of their high life style, the upper class people enjoy a high status in the society. Hence, the upper class people are always status conscious.
While the people of lower and middle class cannot plan in advance with regard to their education, the upper class people, by virtue of their money power, plan in advance with regard to their educational pursuits, got themselves admitted in the reputed and costly educational institutions; if need arises they also choose reputed foreign institutions in the US, UK or Australia or any other European institutions to become a professional like doctor and engineer; after finishing their objectives in education, the wards either continue the established profession of their parents like medicine or join the business house to carry on the business empire.
