The Good Old Days: Then and Now
The old days or the new days? Which days are better? What if we lived like the people of the past generations had? That’d be complete torture. There have been many changes between then and now.
The clothes we wear, the types of music we listen to, and the type of dance we partake in have changed throughout the decades. Which generation has better habits in fashion, music and dress? Well, that’s your opinion.
Fashion
In the olden days when your walking down the street, what you see is men properly dressed in nice hats, a dress shirt with a tie, and nice pants with a jacket. The women are in loose fitting dresses with a bow in their hair. Nowadays you see boys with skater shoes, baggy jeans, hooded sweatshirts, and a backwards baseball cap. The girls’ attire consists of tight jeans and a tight shirt doesn’t always cover their belly button.
What does this new image say about our generation compared to past generations? There are a couple things that can be noticed. First, some bad reflections about present day clothing could be that it shows laziness, immaturity, and sometimes even danger. Compared to the properly dressed, there are not very many negative features. The only one I could think of is that it could show that you were stuck-up. The positive things about present day attire are that it can show that you are adventurous, laid back, and comfortable with yourself. However, the list of good things about the past generation of proper attire outweighs present day attire. It could show prosperity, maturity, happiness, the list just goes on and on.
Music
The kind of music that a person listens to says a lot about them. If you were to turn on your radio in the mid-1900s, you were hear the amazing singing styles of Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Chicago, and many other great artists. Nowadays if you turn on the radio, you hear hip-hop and rap songs about sex and drugs. In the past, singers were amazing and really proved to have a good voice. Today, singers’ voices are altered to become better. Elvis, The Beatles, and Chicago are all great artists/bands who proved to be very entertaining, relaxing and inspirational. However, present-day music is also very entertaining. It is easy to dance to, easy to sing along with, and also it can really reflect your feelings. The two different generations of music have both benefited many people.
