The Human Paradox: Civilization Born with Complications
These days, our lives are extremely complicated, yet there was a time in history when everyone used to live “the simple life.” Whatever happened to our society to change us from what we were to what we are now?
As humans, our life cycle can be seen as a simple “Born, Live, Die” statement. But as we all know, it’s more complicated than that. We have to acquire information, educate ourselves, find a job, fall in love, get married, buy a house, have children – well, you know how it goes. Our lives can be quite complicated at times, and we often wonder whether or not it’s worth going through all of this.
Caterpillars have the simple life – hatch, eat leaves, go to the bathroom whenever and wherever they want, construct cocoons around themselves, and evolve into butterflies. Granted, once in the butterfly stage, they must evade their many enemies, but they don’t have to concern themselves with “looking good,” making money, or finding love.
Why must our existence on this planet be so complicated? We constantly worry about fashion and how others will perceive us by our looks. Who needs a $199 pair of jeans when you can buy a used pair for around $20? Why must we always aspire to look like celebrities?
And speaking of money, why do we have it? Why can’t everything just be free? Or why can’t everyone have the same amount of cash? If life was like that, you wouldn’t need Visa. But seriously, though, what’s the purpose behind having “money” if all it does is create a division in our society between rich and poor? Surely, we can do without it, can’t we?
If we all went back to a simpler time, when there was less that existed, and less to worry about, then I’m positive we’d be a much happier society overall. Because in our current conditions, we just seem to keep getting more and more divisive all the time.

I agree, civilisation complicates life. I don’t think it should, but the western version of society has become fragmented and suspicious. Let’s hope for a brighter future!
