The Media and Americans
American media influences American culture by creating a way for people to learn about what is going on some place other then where they are. The media is like a door way to the world and without it then people really only know and associate with what is going on in their own personal space here on earth.

This is especially true for people who are home bound or that live in rural areas. Receiving a newspaper or turning on the television connects people to others and keeps them up to date on what is going on in the community and to areas of life that are important for personal well being. They can find out what others think to further support their own thoughts which can lead to great ideas being created and shared.
When people are able to connect and receive ideas and stimulation from others it motivates them to try new things which can have good or bad results depending on the situation. Sesame Street is one television show that is well known for having a positive influence on children’s education in a very entertaining way.
Likewise there are some items of interest that may not produce a good influence and should be presented in a way that does not encourage copy cat behavior, especially with crime and violence. This is difficult for writers to do without losing the excitement and details of a story.
It is impossible with the vast amount of information being processed and thought up every minute of the day to control the content of what information is available for viewing. For that reason it is easy to understand why is it difficult to determine the results or influence of the media until afterwards when the effects become apparent.

Yes, we do know all about the world nowadays with TV, newspapers and computers. We can’t escape it anymore. Bad news is always staring us in the face. Of course we love to be aware of all the good news.
