The Most Efficient Media
My opinion about which is the most efficient way to communicate.
It is generally accepted that we need the information brought by the media, like television, radio and films. However, we also argue that there are positive and negative points in each one, and that there is a discussion about which is the most efficient.
In my opinion, there is nothing more important than television as a communication media. Image and sound work perfectly together. There are some images that we will never forget, like the September 11th, because of the intense impact of those moments transmitted by TV. However, some TV stations tend to show only what they are told to. One example is a Brazilian TV channel, called TV Globo, which is strongly believed to be controlled by the Government. But there is another channel, known as TV Cultura, that is not afraid of bringing the current topics and showing the reality.
The second most effective media is the cinema. Watching movies is a way of combining entertainment with learning, because films like “Elisabeth” and “Munich” show us the history in a way that we can easily understand. However, some inaccuracies can happen in the history, because it is not possible to be sure if it it the reality. Another negative point is that it has the liberty to create different worlds and to imagine the future, as the movies “Lord of the Rings” and “Terminator”, which can give us a wrong idea.
The last, but also important, is the radio. The disadvantage is that is much more difficult to explain facts only with words. As the old proverb says: “A picture shows what a thousand of words could not explain.”. To be precise, the written description should be more detailed, but sometimes it can give an in-depht analysis of story. The majority of the stations mix music with news, which can prejudice the information because of the short period separate for this.
Taking everything into consideration, the media have advantages and disadvantages, but what counts more is that, in the end, we can learn as be informed. And, of course, each person has a choice to use the one that they prefer.
