Here are the Philippines’ most popular showbiz celebrities of Ilocano ancestry.

 The Ilocanos are among the largest ethnic groups in the Philippines. You can almost always find an Ilocano in the four corners of the globe. Numerous Ilocanos excel in the different industries and sectors of the society.

1.) Gloria Romero

 

Probably the most popular actress of Ilocano descent is Gloria Romero. She was popularly known during her early days as “Manang Biday” Her father is an Ilocano from Pangasinan. She’s very old but she is still active in showbiz.

2.) Fernando Poe Jr.

 

Fernando Poe Jr., the former king of Philippine Movies, is of Ilocano descent. His father is an Ilocano mestizo actor from Pangasinan. He was a very popular actor/director who was honored as Philippine National Artist in 2006. He died of heart attack in December 2004 after losing the presidential race of May 2004 Elections.

3.) Gloria Diaz

 

The ever beautiful and lovely Gloria Diaz is an Ilocana from Aringay, La Union. She was Miss Universe 1969 and is still active in the film and TV industry as an actress.

4.) Freddie Aguilar

 

Freddie Aguilar, a composer and popular folk singer, is from the province of Isabela. Aguilar became very popular for his song “Anak” which was translated in more than 20 languages worldwide.

5.) Coney Reyes

 

Coney Reyes is a film/television actress, television host and producer. She became a popular TV actress and producer for her “Coney Reyes on Camera”. She is still an active TV actress.

6.) Tetchie Agbayani

 

Tetchie Agbayani is a movie and television actress, former Mutya ng Pilipinas and psychology instructor. She was extremely popular and controversial as Playboy magazine model in the 1980s.

7.) Alma Moreno

 

The controversial and beautiful Alma Moreno, the mother of Mark Anthony, Vandolph and others, was born in Cervantes, Ilocos Sur. Her real name is Vanessa Lacsamana Moreno

8.) Pilar Pilapil

 

Pilar Pilapil, a well-known actress, is the Philippine representative to the Miss Universe pageant in 1967. She is from Camiling, Tarlac.

9.) Anne Curtis

 

The beautiful and charming Anne Curtis, a Filipina actress, is of Ilocano descent. Curtis’ mother is from the province of Pangasinan.

10.) Robin Padilla

 

The popular action star Robin Padilla is of Ilocano descent. He was born in Baguio City and grew up in Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija.

11.) Jericho Rosales

 

Jericho Rosales, an actor who was born in Quezon City traced back his Ilocano roots to Bucay, Abra. He was discovered in the variety noontime show “Eat Bulaga”.

Jake Cuenca, a Filipino actor, is of Ilocano descent whose mother is from Batac City, Ilocos Norte.

13.) Maribeth Pascua

 

Maribeth Pascua, international singer and mass communications lecturer in Indonesia.

14.) Ruby Rodriguez

 

Ruby Rodriguez, a Filipina actress and a co-host of the television variety show Eat Bulaga hailed from San Marcelino, Zambales.

15.) Nova Villa

 

Nova Villa, a veteran comedienne is from the province of La Union. Ruby Rodriguez is her niece.

16.) JB Magsaysay

 

JB Magsaysay of PBB or Pinoy Big Brother season one housemate is of Ilocano descent and the grandson of former President Ramon Magsaysay.

17.) Vanees del Moral

 

Vanees del Moral, whose real name is Martha Vanessa Antonio del Moral is an actress from Baguio City.

18.) Sandy Talag

 

Sandy Talag or Sandra Ann Talag, a Filipina child actress, is from Baguio City.

19.) Marky Cielo

 

The deceased Marky Cielo, an actor and dancer, is from Mountain Province.

20.) Vivian Foz

Vivian Foz, a movie actress, is from Rosales, Pangasinan.

21.) Phil Villas

Phil Villas is an Ilocano rap artist and founder of the record label Homemade music ent. Villa is from Roxas, Isabela
