The Peruvian Calendar of Well-Being

by James Chapman in Society, April 21, 2009

Our well being is something that we all spend a lot of time thinking about and we are continually trying to find ways to improve it. Here is the Peruvian calendar of well being and it is what may be the reason they are so healthy and live so long.

The Peruvians have a well renowned reputation for their longevity and general well being, which they attribute to the constant following of what is called the Peruvian calendar of well being.

January

This is the month when the Peruvians allocate a lot of time for smiling, laughing and having fun, all of which will benefit their immune system, heart and even aid in overcoming infertility.

February

Training of the body and mind is essential for well being and during this month the Peruvians combine alternative medicines with complimentary therapies. Such as, acupuncture, meditation and aromatherapy.

March

March is the month when many Peruvians will try to stop smoking, it has to be noted that those who did stop reduced their chances of cancer by forty six percent.

April

During this month some will fast, but the majority will partake in simple light meals that are full of nutrition, which includes one to five portions of vegetables.

May

This is the month for having good dreams, when at least seven to eight hours of sleep is necessary and before retiring to bed they recommend having a cup of tea and a banana, which contains potassium that helps to reduce any stress in your body and mind.

June

June is the month of substitutions, if they normally eat red meat, they will now eat white meat, swap cheese for yoghurt, pasta for rice, change the cereals for fruit and drink a mixture of olive oil, lemon and salt.

July

In July the mood becomes focused on gratification, the Peruvians take long walks, or indulge in making love during the day, all of which helps the heart, respiratory, bones, skin and eliminates anxiety.

August

The coming of August brings for the Peruvians the chance to have many moments of personal reflection and also the opportunity to spend some time relaxing with natural oil massages and the added sensation of herb essence aromas.

September

The month of September is when they get highly motivated, with regular physical fitness programs that help the muscles, respiratory and heart functions to become much more tested and exercised.

October

October is for them the month of emotional stability, being with friends and family, sharing happiness together and the building of strong social relationships with any new people that have joined the community.

November

This is the month when they go walking anywhere and everywhere, at least forty five minutes, three to five times a week, depending on what best suits the area of landscape that is available to them.

December

December for the Peruvians is the month of moving slowly, there is no need to rush, they just take their time to do everything in a more relaxed way, which helps their digestive system and settles their minds.

Interesting article. It’s a good philosophy that can be applied throughout the year and not just during the respective months.
