The Present Pulse of Aging

A short essay about the view of being caught up in society.

We are told that we need to be in a job by twenty-five. That we need to be married and have a house by thirty, and that we should be fairly well off and established by forty-five. But life does not abide by a plan, there is no set outline for the way things turn out, and in our growing society the cost of self improvement (i.e. College, Trade School) is much too expensive.

From a young age it is drilled into our heads that college is the way to go. We prepare for it our entire lives, tests after tests, long nights of studying, and applications. We all go through it. Then the day comes, you get accepted, your dreams are all in front of you and you feel as though you are on top of the world. Then the details start to come in. You realize in order to go to college for four years and maybe get a job you will have to take our loans, and apply for aid, which often is very little, and then on top of that you still need food and housing. It is much too expensive, and yet we are required as a society to have a college education. Something I will never understand, we need a college education if we plan to succeed in our lives, but in order to get that we have to be fortunate enough to be brought up in some money. So for all of those out there who come from an impoverished family prepare yourselves to work multiple jobs just to be able to afford a community college. And by the time you can pay for your basic classes than transfer to a big college you will be twenty-five, and society will begin to pass you. The present pulse of aging will overtake you and you will begin your long path to a mundane existence. But we can stop this; we can prevent any of this from happening. We just need to press forward and ignore the numbers, people in nature are very self-conscious, we hear something on television and we buy into it, and start believing it. So in an effort to block out the bad, and keep society under wraps we need to alter our perceptions and remain focused, the present pulse of aging is nothing more than a faint beating, and we have plenty of time to overtake it.
