The Social Effects of Technology

The effects of technology and why we should stop depending on it.

Technology does help us, but only so much. The only problem is that it should be less focused on by people. It should be the lesser part of our lives rather than the greater part. We would have smarter people living in our world. We would have less lonely people in the world, less of a gap between the rich people in our world and the poor people in our world. People would be more equal to one another.

Whereas technology helps us in many ways, it also harms us in many ways. We don’t need so much technology and we don’t need it all the time. Technology is not as essential to our lives as it is portrayed. When stuck in a dilemma, people should not think of a solution using technology; the “easy way out.” They should learn from their problem and think of a solution using actual labor. Life wouldn’t be so terrible if technology wasn’t taken to the extremes that they are taken to right now by everyone. Life would be better. Life would be more spontaneous, with us using our own skills and building upon them at the same time instead of using the skills of a computer. We don’t need technology as much as we seem to. Lessen the amount of time you spend with technology; get rid of your addiction. Get technology out of our jobs. Don’t let technology functions that humans have always been meant to do. More technology only means more money for the manager and less money for the employees. Accept that technology should be controlled, and technology in your body should be released. Forget about the T.V., or the video games, or the iPods, the cell phones, and try learning how to play an instrument or a new sport. Have fun and go out with different people.

Make new friends, embrace the amount of time you will have if you just forget about technology even just a little bit. The world would be more efficient, more educated, if we controlled technology, and technology didn’t control us.

people talking on phones is not the real issue…technological advancements in weaponry, energy, cars, refineries and other major industries should be adressed…at least, if you want to get any kind of a point across, they should…

W, yes talking on the phone is an issue. That’s how many people get into accidents, why no one is communicating and why people fail to learn complete social skills.

i agree that technology has taken ownership in our lives because it seems that without it we no longer going survive and we are now less independent because we know that we can actually rely on technology and get things done at an instant

    Think about this:
All other life on the planet it not reliant on technology, they also generally die young and often. They aren’t capable of deep thought and aren’t self aware. They will most likely never expand beyond were nature puts them. We on the other hand, with the help of our technology have been able to expand far beyond what nature allows us to, we know this because without that technology and the knowledge that comes with it would no doubt return to the most primitive stages of human life, when the only difference between us and monkeys was that we could stand (sort of) and they can’t. Is it do bad that we are dependant on technology? If we need technology to live the way we do we can figure out a way to make it work, because with our technology we can control our future. That is what makes us unique, our technology and everything that comes with it.

The point is: as long as the technology is used as a helpful tool, it won’t harm us. We might assume that technological innovations will effect our lives much more in the future than it does nowadays, most probably in the way beyond our imagination.
The combination of economic practices and technology usage results into the ultimate goal of selling and buying technological products to perceive happiness. Buyers are happy with their fancy technological tools they are more frequently requiring and sellers are happy by increasing their profits and customers’ loyalty. But how can we rely our happiness on technology or on any physical object? However, in doing so, we are about to experience a new form of slavery and addiction: the “econology” (= the result of economical and technological effects on social life).
Let us just for a moment think how our desire of buying new, fancy stuff keeps us from relaxing or taking one day off our work. We just fool ourselves, with the illusion that we need the money. What do we really need the money for? Rent, food, clothes, a mobile phone, a single computer sound to me respectable but why do we need a new phone or computer every year (even though our last one works perfectly fine)?
It is definitely an illusion to think that we control something that has become such an important part of our lives, especially as a consumer and customer. If we can not get along without it, we are as “customers” addicted to buying more and more fancy stuff. We are “enslaved” to desire ground-breaking technological innovations since the evolution of electricity. I doubt Tesla meant this to happen.

The point isn’t that technology isn’t useful, it’s that it’s hindering our concentration.

This page is hard to take seriously with the invasive banner ads that expand on the header and footer. And, the other ads located within the body on the top, right, and bottom. Such insight about the effects of technology is muted by the pathetic amount of advertising.
