The True Face of Evil

There are two person who have great power and a lot of resources in their disposal. The first person choose to use his power and resources to purchase weapons, wage war, conduct homicide and swore to end humanity with everything he got. The second person choose to use his power and resources to feed and educate the people and also to fund various scientific researches that is supposed to better the condition of human life.

Who among these two powerful persons is a greater evil than the other?

Most people will answer that the first person is more evil than the second person. That is not really something surprising considering that most people actually live in the present without having the slightest idea about what the future hold. Yeah, I would say that most people are shortsighted in this regards.

What the first person actually do is deactivating the brain of some people, an act which would end their ability to perceive pain. If the mission of the first person is successful, the surface of our Earth will be cleared of all human beings and hopefully other forms of life, thus putting an end to the billions years history of struggle, pain and suffering of all living beings. The plan of the first person is a plan that lead to ETERNAL PEACE.

The second person works however is going to enhance the probability of humanity to survive and one day to be able to get out of our small blue dot and colonize the vastness of our universe. His act of feeding the hunger could potentially enable them to survive and to one day contribute for the expansion of humanity to space.

That looks good, except that the horror in this plan is actually greater than the one planned by the first person. As the vastness of space which now the home of humanity and their descendant, is far greater than our Earth, the number of population the space can support is also greater. Among those great number of population, some friction in ideology or competition for resources could become full scale wars that lead to the death of many people. There will be one day when every second somewhere in the universe, billions, trillions or even quadrillions of minds are going to suffer and die for various reasons.

I have to conclude that the path to hell is indeed paved with good intention. The kind, generous and charitable man is indeed a greater evil compared to the genocidal nut.

But then, is knowing with certainty that my actions are going to result in the death of trillions or even quadrillions of beings make me a criminal? The answer is No, because humanity itself is evil. The brain of every living beings have been brainwashed by billions years of evolution to preserve their pain and suffering. They will always plan for the destruction of the enlightened genocidal who are there to help them out of their sufferings and establish eternal peace on Earth.

The reality is simple but counter-intuitive. When you are the one behind the death of millions lives you are a villain, when you are behind the death of trillions lives you are a hero.
