The World Will Never be the Same If You See Through the Eyes of Forest Gump
The world will never be the same if you see through the eyes of Forest Gump.
The expressions in the movie have become some important philosophies for us to recall. I therefore quoted them from what I watched for your reference.
- Life was like a box of chocolate, you never know what you’re gonna get
- There is an awful lot you can tell about a person by their shoes. Where they’re going, and where they’ve been.
- You are no different than anybody else is
- Stupid is as stupid does
- We were like peas and carrots
- There must be something can be done
- Miracles happen every day
- Son-of-bitch
- Sure as hell was
- Aint I going to be me?
- Nobody gives a horse shit who you are, puss ball
- Get your maggoty ass on the bus
- That is an outstanding answer I’ve ever heard
- Just like that, she was gone
- A little stinging rain, and big old fat rain
- There ain’t something you can find just around the corner
- The secret to this game is, no matter what happens, never, ever take your eye off the ball
- Nothing just happens, it’s all part of a plan
- I army’s value = loyalty, respectful, selfless, honor, integrity, personal courage, which can form into LDRSHIP= leadership
- There is one small step for a man, a giant leap for mankind
- A promise is a promise
- I am a man of my word
- Where the hell is this God of yours?
- There is only so much of fortune a man really needs and the rest is just for showing off
- You got to go when you got to go
- Shit happens!
- You have to put the past behind you before you can move on
- It was just before the sun goes to bed down on the bay. There were a million sparkles on the river.
- If there is anything you need I will not be far away
- It’s my time. It’s just my time. Oh, now, don’t you be afraid sweetheart. Death is just a part of life, something were all destined to do. I didn’t know it. But I was destined to be your mom. I did the best I could.

This is absolutely one of my all-time favorite movies. Forrest Gump’s character exemplifies what it means to truly live – if you keep you promises (to Bubba) through a virtuous life you can become successful, through pursuing the things you love (running) you can become an inspiration to others (when the people in the movie followed him), etc. Forrest wasn’t trying to be anything or achieve anything in particular. He was simply living like a child, doing what he loved and keeping his heart open.
Great article!
Best wishes.
Sincerely,
-Liane Schmidt.

This movie was about a man thought to be less than ordinary who proved to be extraordinary. My husband and I have watched this countless times. It proves that we should not place limits on ourselves, and particularly not allow others to. Thank you Chan for sharing your take on this movie.

Chan, this is great! I agree with you hundred percent. In the end –as the Little Prince said– what is most important is invisible to the eye: Courage, Honor, Goodness, Love, Purity, and all those are virtues of the Heart. Thank you, my friend!
