The flight time from Delhi to Dubai is about leaves Delhi at 5:30 P.M you will reach Dubai at 8: 30 P.M right no –wrong! You will reach Dubai at 7: 00 P.M! This is because clocks in different countries around the world have different times.

When it is 5:30 P.M. in India, I am in 4:00 P.M. in Dubai, 12 noon in UK, and 7: 00 A.M in Washington, Dc.

Q~ why is it that different places in the world have different times?

A~ Noon at any place is the time when the sun is at its highest point in the sky. But noon at one place may not be noon at noon at the other places. This is because different parts of the earth face the sun at different times.

So we need to set different times in our clocks depending on which country we are in.

The whole world is divided into 24 time zones. Clocks within the same time zone are set to the same time. As you travel from one zone to another, the clocks are adjusted to show the time of that Zone.

Indian clocks in all cities show the same time. But in some countries clocks in all cities do not have same time!

For example, in USA, hen it is 7: 00 A.M. in Washington, it is 4:00 A.M. in Los Angels! So if you are traveling all over USA, you have to keep adjusting you watch!

This is because you will be traveling through different time’s zones. The cities in USA follow the different times indicated by the different time zones.
