Titles. Brands. Respect. Value. Naming
Stereotypes, prejudice, it’s all wrong.
Titles. Brands. Respect. Value. Naming. All of it. It’s terrible.
Look, titles are the source of prejudice and misjudging. When you read a title, you think “Oh, this post/book/article is gonna be about “enter subject here”, and then you go on to read about that. What if the title was something that you had no interest in and in the actual body of the post/book/article, there was something to learned. A cry for help. A voice that should have been heard. But that was lost, wasn’t it? Because of a misjudgment.
Brands are just as ridiculous. A regular tee at Walmart is about 5 bucks. It’s 100% cotton, made in Cambodia and has a lifespan of about 2 years. A regular tee from Abercrombie and Fitch is about $45. It’s 100% cotton, made in Cambodia and has a lifespan of about 2 years. And oh yeah, there’s a deer on the bottom left corner embroidered on it. So a deer, that’s about 2cm wide it going to make the price of that shirt zoom up THAT much! Really?!?! That extra money you are pouring into that shirt is not going to make the person in Cambodia’s life better, it isn’t going to make that shirt last longer. It isn’t going to do anything but make “fit in” with the rest of the people in your school. To think that I actually wanted to fit in with people who wore those clothes, lived that “lifestyle” GOSH! And I know so many kids who were bullied and kicked out of their group of friends because they didn’t wear clothes from Abercrombie and Hollister. Fashion comes with sense. Not with money. I haven’t ever bought a shirt for more than $10. I have about 7 shirts and 2 pants from Walmart. Heck, I have pants from CVS. No one I know would say that my clothes are of ill taste. They are perfectly normal. My fashion sense isn’t backward or anything. It represents me perfectly. I wish people would break free of this presumption and start expressing themselves with their clothes to be themselves, not to please others or show off the money they have.
Titles given to people out of respect. Sir. Madam. Master. King. Everything. It all will eventually lead to unfair social hierarchy, racism, sexism, and all that ugly stuff. Power wars, greed, misunderstanding, ruined relationships, disastrous executions. The people who demand respect. Do they really get that? Do they deserve respect? Truthfully, I have respect for the people I believe have earned the respect I give them. It doesn’t always come about because of their age or experience in life. Sometimes I respect others because they have a good mind, they are strong, and they are kind. I like who they are and I look up to them. I feel that there is something I can learn from the people I respect.
Value should be given to everything. It is a creation. Everything has it’s purpose. Whether it be bad or good. The value given is in the eye of the beholder. There is no point in arguing about it. No one will be in perfect accordance. Don’t lose your self-value because of that. No one can give that back to you.
Naming is quite similar. If people call you names, don’t believe it. If you do, you will become. Believe in yourself, in your dreams, in who you can be and go from there. People will always be there to pull you down, treat you like dirt and use you. A few will come around who will help you, believe in you, and push you up. But no matter what the situation, you should always work towards improving who YOU CAN be. Stop juging and critizicing others and you will do well. So will others. You needn’t worry.
Titles really are pointless.
