Validation of Ourselves
We as human beings are not perfect, never have been, never will be. The more news reports, crime shows, mysteries and psychology we see on TV and the Internet the more fearful and dissatisfied we are with how we live our lives. We look to others for validation when we should be looking to ourselves. Information is thrown at us at an unbelievable rate, reliable and unreliable. Maybe it’s time to hunker down and enjoy our lives rather than letting others bombard us with their particular views.
We are all guilty of something. Going all the way back to the first human being. We have been guilty of greed, theft, perversion, murder and anything else you can think of. From the Jim crow system of the south to the racist laws of Nazi Germany, evilness has run it’s course through our world. We run away when we should stand our ground and speak when we should keep silent.
We worry about survival and how the political machines run our society, and we feel guilty. All we have to do is turn on the TV and see all the horrors that we can imagine. News reports, rumors and murders fill the airwaves, and we feel caught helpless, in the middle, or up the creek without a paddle.

We hear all the news, important or mundane as soon as it happens and as interpreted by the views of whatever channel we are watching. We used to have face to face contact with real people which gave us at least, the illusion of understanding where we stood in the scheme of things.
Now, with computers, social networks, TV channels and smart phones, we are losing touch with our own humanity. There’s too much of everything, too many news reports, too many important books we should read, too much information hitting us on all sides. All this lambasting makes us fearful and distrustful.
Thats why TV psychologists, confessionals and TV Evangelists are so popular. We look to someone to make it right. Someone who has all the answers, and someone we can trust. That’s what happened with the Manson gang. Just out of prison this little guy only 5 foot 2 took to the street with his guitar and mesmerized these kids who were looking for somebody to trust and look up to.
And that’s the gist of what I am rambling on about. We have to look to ourselves. We can’t look for someone to validate us as human beings. Not a gang, not psychologists, not the church. We are individuals and responsible for ourselves, our mistakes and our good qualities.

Greatest validation of ourselves comes from our conscience and from the way majority of the world reacts to you not just one person who might mean the world to you…. Personally believe in that and have walked down the lane of feeling inadequate so many times in the past that now I use that experience to weigh the pros and cons about myself, pick myself up and walk again with pride!!!

That is one hell of a tirade Ruby but you are right, the buck stops with each and everyone of us.

your so right Ruby…a lot of good people think of themselves as worthless because they trusted others opinions of who they were.

its so much easier to look to others..then you cannot blame yourself.. I think that is why so few people are activists and so many are followers.

Excellent Ruby I agree with your every word.
Someone once said a little commonsense is worth a lot of knowledge. Today we are bombarded with knowledge and should use are commonsense more often.

This is very true. Validation must come from within.

You bring up some valid points and it is true that people are out looking for a leader and they will pick anyone who will tell them they are okay the way they are and make them feel secure, but as you mentioned we need to find that validation in ourselves.

These examples reveal that we are and never will be perfect of course.

I do agree, if we spent less time comparing ourselves to how we percieve others to be – and more time reflecting on ourselves, we’d all be happier. There is no perfect human being. Great article!

We must be ourselves. We know what is right and wrong. We could never falter if we always do the right things.
