The Pope made his comments to some of the most violent anti-gay marriage in a speech before the new year, diplomats accredited to the Vatican, and touched on some of the economic and social issues facing the world today.
He told diplomats from around 180 countries, the education of children in need of appropriate conditions, and the pride of place goes to the family based on marriage of a man and a woman.
He said the Pope, “This is not a social treaty, but the basic cell of every society,” and therefore “the policies that threaten to undermine the dignity of the human family and the future of humanity itself.”
Opposed to officials in the Vatican and the Catholic Church throughout the world moves to legalize gay marriage in Europe and other parts of the world. The Archbishop of New York, Timothy Dolan, who Sergih pope to cardinal next month, a leading opponent of gay marriage in the United States.
Dolan has resisted such a marriage before it becomes legal in New York state last June, and sent a message in the September / September to U.S. President Barack Obama, criticizing his government’s decision not to support a federal ban imposed on gay marriage.
It is noteworthy that this marriage is legal in a number of European countries, including Spain and the Netherlands.

I take exception to the word violent. Benedict-ratzinger is not advocating violence vs. gay people. (St. Pius V 1566-1572 did advocate the death penalty for sodomy).
Joseph ratzinger, anti-pope Benedict XVI is not Catholic. He is not a valid pope. He goes back and forth between heresies which make him an anti-pope and conservative statements like this to deceive people.

I too is against marriage of same sex. Am not narrow minded , i admire and appreciates gays or lesbians because most are talented and have to accept that is their nature have to love and understand and accept them ,because they are just like us human being , but i don’t agree them taking vow of marriage for it is a sacred thing .

I think if the rest of us can’t make our marriage last how sacred can it be. Marriage has become a joke people wed for 3 day and throw in the towels. It’s not scared anymore. No one cares some people get married for the gifts come on. Why not gays give them a chance I think if your not discriminating against them, you wouldn’t be against them getting married.

Hmm…good article. I don’t know what I would place myself in on this issue. I’m religious, but I’m pretty open-minded when it comes to people’s interests.
I don’t even know if in the bible it says that we should prosecution gay marriages, or whatever? Not sure.
