We All Have a Name: What Does Yours Say?
In a time where character and integrity are personality traits where people have a deficiency, I hope this will help people realize the potential for greatness that dwells within all of us.
When a couple finds out they are having a baby the first thing they do is start thinking of names. Will it be a girl? Will it be a boy? What will they be like? Will the baby like me? When the baby actually gets here the parents choose a name that they think will best represent who that child is and more importantly who the child will become. In biblical days mothers and fathers would give children names that explained the character of that child. As you read you notice that a child whose name meant wisdom or understand had an incredible ability to comprehend problems and formulate solutions.
All a person truly has in a lifetime is their name. The name tells who a person is. When you think about a restaurant that had great service and food you tell everybody you know. The same is true when you think about a restaurant that was terrible. The same thing is true about people. If a person is rude, ignorant, etc. word travels about that person. It is important to be careful about which actions become what your names are. Making a good impression is only the first step in developing the character behind a name. The mistake that many people make is stopping at the first impression. Showing concern, care, and compassion about the world around you in the things in it also depicts the perception of a person. It is my fervent belief that there is greatness inside each and every person who takes breath on this earth. Choices that are made throughout the life that was given to each of us will determine the final destination of the names that we will each make for ourselves.
It is never too late to make your name. It pains me when I come into contact with people who have given up on the potential for their lives. I was a teenage mother; pregnant as a high school senior. For quite some time I began to doubt a bright future for myself and my son. Little did I know at the time that my attitude was the only thing holding me back. In fact attitude is the only factor holding many people back. When I stopped feeling sorry for myself and regretful for my “mistake” I was able to start accomplishing far more than I could ever have imagined. I started to value myself as a woman too. I stopped having careless relationships and relations with random men. These behaviors lessened the value of my name during the time. I have since reclaimed my independence and virtue. It is of the utmost importance to value who you are as a person. Your destiny will follow. Give yourself the power to grow and to nurture your talents then the possibilities for your life become limitless.
Remember that we all have a name. When we are born the possibility for greatness is automatically encrypted on the hearts of all of us. Realizing the potential for greatness early is a key factor to staying the course. However, it is inevitable that some of us fall off track. Don’t be weary because all it takes to reclaim your place in time is to get up, brush yourself off, and start over. Now it is important to remember that a person only gets so many chances to become who they are destined to be. The number of opportunities allotted is different for each of us. Don’t test the waters. Realize your potential and start making your name. Greatness is within everyone!
