Weird Habits: Go on, Just Admit It!

All of us have weird habits, what are yours?

If you’re me, then you will know that you have a lot of weird habits. Everyone has weird habits. You may deny it to start with but I know that deep down, you know that you have those weird habits that you just hate to admit.

What defines a weird habit? Well, a weird habit is something that you just have to do and if you don’t do it, you find that life becomes really uncomfortable. All of us have them and what is really strange is that we hate to admit them! Okay, some might be a bit personal and disgusting, we don’t want to know those but we do want to know those ones that annoy you when they don’t happen. These weird habits are things you are very particular about that portray your daily lifestyle and you like it when you can do these things because they are psychologically satisfying.

You may be a bit confused now so I’ll start you off.

I have loads of weird habits. And by loads, I mean tons. Some of them are habits and some of them are just things I do that will strike me and many other people as slightly weird. For example, I can’t bear to sit on the right side of the car so every time my family is out on a long car journey (or even a short one), I just HAVE to sit on the left side of the car. I worry how I’m going to drive in the future! (Oops!) Another weird thing about me is that I have a particular red cereal bowl and a particular chic mug. If I don’t have these two, I just can’t have my cereal or my hot chocolate. I have to have them before I can tuck into my breakfast or have a mug of hot chocolate. It distresses me when I can’t have my little red bowl or my mug and have to have another substitute instead. Yet another weird thing about me is that I often change the date on my homework so that my teacher thinks I’ve done it a while back when actually I’ve only done it the night before the due date. The next weird thing about me is that I can’t stand the sound of a clock ticking which is why I’ve gotten rid of a normal clock from my bedroom. I hate sleeping at night listening to the clock tick every second – it just leaves me incredibly annoyed.

Great and enjoyable piece. You are a brave girl for putting yourself out there. There’s nothing wrong with having your favorite red cereal bowl and particular mug. lol. this exercise is making me think of weird habits in other people. I have a habit of plucking my eyebrows and any fine hair in my face. I am extremely organized and clean. Clutter drives me crazy. I revise and edit my work several times before submitting, the night before I organize everything for the next morning. I have a calendar where I write down everything that I must do for the next day, what I have done or need to do, appts, bills that I have paid and highlight in different colors. lol. Anyhow, I am sort of a perfectionist.

weird habits, eh? well, i have a routine before I go to bed that I HAVE to stick to. I clean off my makeup, wash or shower, then I brush my teeth. I always have to go to the toilet last :/ I dunno, been doing that way for years, can’t deal with it any other way lol! Also when I do the washing up, I have to do it in a specific order, and the cutlery has an allocated place in the cutlery dryer stand thing…and if I walk past the draining board and Mum has done the washing up, I rearrange the cutlery dryer!

I have a habit to go through the same routine everyday at the same exact time. I leave my school at 2:34 and get home at 2:46. I leave my house at exactly 2:57 to go swimming. Time is something that I always have myself watching,.

Good article. It is the “wierd” habits that makes us the person that we are. All are pieces to the puzzle that becomes us. What is also interesting is how you became to own these habits. When I reflect, I have a habit to check the doors at night three times….and when I think why am I like that…it stems from my mom who was always a little paranoid a door may be open…soon she had me doing it, minus the paranoioa. Good job
