What Attracts People to Clubs and Societies
Each person is a unique being. As such we all have different likes and dislikes. Some people would prefer to go swimming rather than stare at a video display. Yet others prefer to read a book quietly rather than to kick a football. Thus we have dozen of clubs and societies that cater for our very varied tastes and fancies.

A club or society exists to pursue a specific activity. The opportunity to participate in a particular activity is the main thing that attracts people to a club or society.
A camera club offers its members information and know – how regarding the art of photography, a scout troop pursues outdoor activities and a computer club allow its members to learn the intricacies and marvels of the modern – age computer.

Besides being able to do the things that interest us, a club also provides the opportunity for us to meet others, to socialize and to develop our own character. For example, a martial art club teaches its particular form of self – defense. There a member learns the skills and techniques peculiar to the club. More importantly he learns to discipline himself. In time he learns that it is not a wise thing to hurt others. A martial art is not about just learning how to knock down the control and respect for his opponents. Those who learn this remain long with the club and those who do not soon become disillusioned and leave.

This is an excellent article. I personally love to read in a quiet room or writing while half listening soft instrumental music. I haven’t been a member of a club for quite sometime, I don’t miss it. I enjoyed reading your article.

Wow! What a lot of pictures! I guess Triond would be a club, huh? A cyber-club, with faceless computers, but social non-the-less. Nice article.

A very interesting article. I enjoy spending time to myself just reading or writing. Clubs are something I’ve never gotten into.

Triond is a sort of club. Not a bad one either most of the time.

You are right about us not wanting to join clubs as we get older, but I found I was isolating myself by doing that. I joined the Women’s Institute where I have made new friends and I go along to meetings and functions which to my surprise I really enjoy. A really good article.

Socializing adds color to our lives, so joining a good is not entirely a bad idea. But you must still select the ones you wish to be close to. A very thought provoking piece of writing. Keep up the good work.

A very interesting look at clubs and opinion. I think there are pros and cons. For ex- it does expand ones inner circle to those that one may normally never meet. On the other hand, social clubs can make those that do not have good social skills feel even more alienated. So, I see both sides.

Great article Mr ghaz , as for myself I’m a biy of a loner and never did enjoy socializing in clubs. Hubby joined a club once and I found it torture when we had to attend but he enjoyed it so I guess it’s like the old saying “different strokes for different folks”. I was happy when he resigned lol

Great job, could include religion with that! Personally, I’m a bit of a loner and am fine with that!
Thanks,

I think maybe these are the reasons why people go to clubs or societies. Thanks.
