Why Am I an American Patriot?

Do you consider yourself an American patriot?

“Patriot: A person who loves, supports, and defends his or her country and its interests with devotion,” defined by Random House Dictionary. A definition like this can only be used to describe someone who enjoys living in a country like America. I believe that I fit this description quite well, because I am a person who loves, supports, defends, and prays for my country, the United States of America.

Being a patriot requires much dedication. Sometimes when I am eating a meal or doing something that I am blessed to be doing, I just stop and say a prayer for all the military men and women that are risking there lives day in and day out. I hope that someday I will be able to be a great patriot like them or even be able to make an impact on society.

One of my greatest inspirations for being a great American patriot is the quote by Charles F. Browne: “We can’t all be Washington’s, but we can all be patriots.”  This quote is something everyone should ponder in their minds when we think being a patriot is too hard or that someone else will be a patriot instead of me, I don’t want to be made fun of. Being a patriot is not too hard, it is easy, and the people who might fun of me for being a patriot are the people who really need to become one.

When I first started this essay, I thought I was too young to be a patriot, but now I see that I am a patriot already. I love my country very much and I support all the freedoms, and governmental decisions that are made in the country. I always defend my country and will continue to defend my country for the rest of my life.
