Why Do We Curse?
I don’t understand the preoccupation with cursing that has taken over the American culture!
Why is it that every movie we watch now has profanity sprinkled in or in most cases completely saturated with it? Have we regressed so much as a culture that we feel that it is ok? Do we still even think of curse words as a expletive to express uniqueness or do we use them for everyday things so much that we don’t even think about it. At the rate kids use the F word now we are going to have to invent a new curse word to one up the F word to express our dislike. People use this word for everything. They start thinking there cool by saying this word, then how many times they can say the word, then just habit takes over! It started with the movie industry making movies filled with profanity that target our younger generation. Most adults have never ventured into the world of the thrasher horror films of today or the college beerfest movies that have become to popular with our kids. They would be shocked at the amount of profanity that is just spewed out. I remember one movie in particular that came out at Halloween a couple years ago that cracked me up it was so profane. The main character managed to use the F word in every sentence for over 5 minutes. Is it really necessary to do this? Do we honestly want this for our culture? The ripple effect of a desensitation from our media has led to this downward slope. I am scared that my kids and grandkids won’t ever be able to watch a movie or TV or listen to a song on the radio without hearing something that I would never be allowed to say when I was growing up!
