Why Political Correctness Was Destined to Fail
The Politically Correct Movement swept across North America and Europe only to create more tensions and repression of hatred. Was it incorrect to be correct?
The words we use are effected by the visual and aural cues we send out. Words can become derogatory or complementary through gestures or vocal tone. If you don’t believe this, try standing in front of the mirror and say various words in differing vocal tones with different physical gestures. If you still don’t believe this, ask a friend or family member to stand in front of you and say various polite and impolite words and phrases using different physical gestures and vocal intonations. If you need further convincing of this find your family dog and scream at him “You’re a good boy!!!!” in the way some might scream at him if he tore apart all of their furniture and ate the only picture they have of their grandmother. If you still refuse to believe visual and aural cues effect the meaning of words, or phrases, after those exercises seek medical attention.
Seriously! Beyond ignoring that specific intentions are imprinted on words by individuals, one of the worst effects the P.C. Movement has had, is that some people don’t even know why they shouldn’t use certain words. They only that they should not use this word or that because they were taught not to use it This type of superstitious thinking inhibits understanding of history and evolving to a species the can get past hatred. Calm, rational, intellectual discussion of derogatory terms is needed for us to evolve out of old paradigms of hatred. Sadly, this dialog is no longer allowed in some institutions of learning or what should be appropriate social situations.
Romance of The Psychotic Robots
One of the strangest things to come out of the P.C. movement were the P.C. rules for dating and romantic encounters. I understand why people felt these rules were needed. I understand that they came about because of date rapes and accusations of date rapes. I understand that some people do not understand the words “No! Really I mean stop it now!” or that some people have feel the need to displace their guilt for having drunken sex by accusing the other party of rape.
Rape, or filing false charges of rape, are crimes and should be viewed only as acts of violence or deception. As a result of some people committing these crimes, someone in The P.C. Word Police decided that everyone needs rules for romantic encounters. The problem is that the rules they came up with, make people sound, or look like, psychotic robots, by stripping away spontaneity and passion. In your mind imagine the voice of your favorite robot, or cyborg, saying the following statements: “I am going to kiss you now. Is that acceptable to you?”, “I would like to caress your hair and the nape of your neck. Would you find the agreeable?”, “Would you find it offensive if I unbuttoned your shirt?”, or “I would like to undo my zipper. Is that okay, and would you like to do so as well?”. I will stop now to keep this clean. However, I think it’s fairly obvious how some more intimate requests, suggestions, or actions would sound completely psychotic using this model of romance.
The Fat Lady Has Left The Building
People are still using expressions like “It ain’t over till the fat lady sings”, or “That’s like the pot calling the kettle black” and hate groups have turned every redefined word or phrase that the P.C. Word Police came up with into a tool for hate. People are still being raped and people are still falsely accusing others of rape, and racism still exists.
The Politically Correct Movement is over and it has caused just as many problems as it attempted to correct. Only thing that is going to change this world is the adoption of honesty by everyone. However, this will mean that feelings will be hurt, lives will be lost, and some lives ruined during the transition from delusions, hidden feelings, repressed hatreds and jealousies, to understanding and acceptance through honesty. Feelings are hurt now, lives are lost now, and lives are ruined now. So giving honesty a try will not cost any more, and just might have great rewards.

I hear ya dude!. I grew up when this was all the rage, and well, I never really adopted it. It was just in most instances too stupid. Still gets me in trouble today though – not being PC

Political Correctness becomes unnecessary if we simply embrace our humanity! Good article.

Political correctness, in my opinion is a way for the masses suppress personal views and characters. Let’s all think alike, like sheep being led to the slaughter.
Great article.

Your thoughtful and insightful treatise here brought to mind a book I really enjoyed reading called “The Redneck Manifesto”, which I would go so far as to declare required reading on this subject. Well done, Mark!

Great Article Mark. I have been an opponent of Political correctness for as long as I can recall. If people aren’t saying what they actually feel then old attitudes are buried not corrected. I would rather be honestly hated than politely ignored I know not everyone shares my view but I don’t care.
Political correctness has led to the ridiculous state of this country where many people actually believe racial profiling is a bad thing. There are some instances where it is extremely useful. Like searching for a middle eastern terrorist you would probably have more luck if you ignored 90 year old Chinese ladies and concentrated on middle eastern men. I don’t think cops should pull over every minority driving but sometimes there are good indicators that a car may contain trouble. I my self have been pulled over precisely because I was white and out of place in a neighborhood. the cop told me I didn’t belong there and after I answered his questions and let him look through my car for drugs he let me go. Were my rights violated? probably, but my guess would be most white guys in that neighborhood at 5 am would probably be up to something bad.

Correct Mark and well said.
Honesty–the only way.
Mind you it has to be wrapped in a big fat lie to be noticed.

Great article, Mark.
The lie of political correctness is that we’re being told that what we SHOULD think is more important than what we DO think.

PC comes and PC goes; there is an ebb and flow that only rarely gives us an even keel.
