WTF America

Ok, so cell phones have been amazing recently, with things like the windows phone (boo!), the iPhone ($$$$), the android (EPIC), and Blackberry (meh.) we can now do almost everything we can do on a computer, in the palm of our hands, and with 3G, 4G, and other mobile internet options, that means that literally everything is readily available to anyone that owns or possesses one. Though this is great for parents, businessmen, students and pretty much anyone that understands how to use one and is over the age of 15, the downside, and rather stupid side is that many people are giving such power to their children, i mean mostly 13 and under, 13-16 is a gray zone, but there is no need for a child to own their own phone that costs as much as $500, and an extra $125/mo, thats just ridiculous, and though many support “Parental Controls”, most parents dont even bother enabling this feature, leaving the child open to all the dangers, all the violence, the porn, the internet. Any teenager can tell you that the internet is no place for children, so why give them access in their pocket? And just in case you’re fine with your third-grader watch all kinds of violence and porn, just think of how they’ll start thinking, they’ll consider women as objects of sexual gratification, they’ll see that many problems are solved with killing, maiming, and destroying, making them become the poeple that no one wants to be near, and the dangers of them finding a nice pedophiliac to talk to, and gives out your adress, and when you arent there, and this pedophile has some kleptomanic friends, lets them on, and now your child is molested, your valuables are gone, and no one except the pedophile/kleptophile that robbed your childs innocence, and took your big TV. 

PS, i am not against parents giving children a cell phone when necessary, I’m pointing out that these expensive smartphones aren’t made, or even marketed for someone so immature, and they shouldnt be given to such young people. A standard phone with talk, text, and possibly picture messaging is all they could possibly need for the vast majority of their life. Dont destroy your children, or yourself.

PPS i am aware that some children with these phones are borrowing them, but i know of about 30 cases in which those are actually THIER phones, and all of these live in a subdivision of around 200 people, so thats about 15%, so thats an estimated 150 per thousand. Thats still far too high.
