Youth Culture: Not All are Drug-Addicted Graffiti Artists

The misconception.

What myths exist about Youth Culture?

There are many myths that exist about Youth Culture, some of them are real but the majority are false. Most of the ‘older’ generation assume that the youth do drugs, since that is what they see on the news and read in the newspaper but this is mostly false. Some of the youth do drugs, yes but defiantly not the majority. They also say many youth do drugs and stuff like that to be popular, and to fit in, but most of the youth have never tried any illegal drugs & In most friend groups its looked down upon.  Also they assume that because one large party gets onto the news, they assume that everybody has 500+ people parties and get drunk and high. When there are smashed windows, graffiti and other public vandalism people assume it’s the youth that did it. The youth are also blamed for shoplifting when many people who are older do it. For instance on ‘’This day tonight’’ on the 16th of July, there was an old couple who were shoplifting, and stealing handbags and due to their age most people assumed they wouldn’t do it. Some people also steal to support a drug habit or something similar.

You get your point across very well, it is annoying to hear that youths are always blamed for trouble.
